About Us

Embrace Compassion is a grass roots organization in Oregon that partners with a beautiful rural village in Ethiopia to encourage family preservation, education, job creation and humanitarian relief. Our Bright Spot sponsorship program encourages children to stay in school with simple needed supplies like shoes, uniforms, school supplies and hygiene materials. We also work in the same area with the families to produce clean water, share medications to take away intestinal worms and vitamins to prevent night blindness. We partner with each family for what makes sense for them to succeed, because each family is unique.

Some of the ways we have partnered in this village have been with solar power, sewing lessons and machines, 5 pure water wells that serve 5000 weekly, ear evaluations and training for a local medical helper, women’s hygiene support, food sharing, small business grants, farming supplies and training. We have also produced a coloring book in the local language that shares truth about love and being a good neighbor.

We love the children and the families of the Oromia region of Ethiopia and we partner with them to make a difference, one child and one family at a time.

Simply stated, the Focus of Embrace Compassion is to…

Tackle one life impacting project at a time in partnership with our village for the benefit of their families

Offer family preservation and hope to our village through our Bright Spot Program

Collaborate and encourage others who are loving and giving to Ethiopia sacrificially

We Believe Everyone Can Make A Difference

We would like to give you the opportunity  to know more about our story and our current projects…consider inviting Jennifer Bridges to visit your organization.  Please contact us for more information.

Embrace Compassion  was established by the Bridges family  in 2011 with several families pulling together for the purpose of meeting one need at a time in Ethiopia. Through the different seasons, many have come alongside to partner with us to demonstrate LOVE in action and join with a rural village that we have been blessed to call family.

Check out some of these pictures as they were all taken during the very first Bridges Family trip.

Nekempte hospital is the leading hospital in western Ethiopia, specifically in the Oromia region. Approximately 5 million people surround the hospital and are serviced by the staff at this medical facility.

We would like to highlight some new progress currently underway at the hospital. Dr. Haileyesus, the lead surgeon, has worked diligently to establish teamwork among the staff, the local community and with other non profit helping teams across the world. Doctor Haileyesus finds great success in working hard to build an infrastructure that supports the best care possible for patients. He sees great value in bringing together multiple helpers and team players for the best results.

While our wonderful doctor is very humble, we will boast of some of the wonderful achievements that have come from his leadership and partnership with others.

We are celebrating the opening of a new operating theater that will increase the number of surgeries by 50%! The new operating room gives more options as we have added a new orthopedic surgeon who is using SIGN materials to repair badly broken bones.

We are also celebrating the addition of a new skin grafting dermatome machine that has already increased our level of care for our patients.

With much thanks to the community and their support, to Doctor Haileyesus and his humble leadership and to the supporting NGO’s like Sign and Embrace Compassion, our team is making a wonderful impact for the Oromia region.
